long weekend, fun!!

{ok, so I am bad, I harass Kristin to update her blog, and realize I have been lackin' with mine too}

it's the start of the long weekend today {ok, really, tomorrow, but I have no life, so I say today!!!}!!!!!!!!!!! Des has three nights off, yeah!!!! We get him Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Think Des and I are heading into Cranbrook tomorrow for an appointment {although I am thinking of moving it to another day}, then either off to Calgary or Lethbridge on Saturday for back to school shopping. That is if Cody's father gets back to me today. Otherwise, I think we are all off to Cranny together tomorrow {if I keep my appointment} or Saturday. We don't really need to get much, backpacks, inside shoes, that kinda think. All their supplies are sitting waiting downstairs already.

Cody has been busy babysitting lots, made about $100 in two weeks, allowance and babysitting money. Not too shabby for an 11 year old!!! He had a friend sleep over last night, so I had a late night keepin' them quiet. Thank goodness we moved Cody to the basement, at least the kids could sleep upstairs in quiet. Jenna has asked for a sleepover as well, but the one person she wants to come over isn't at home this weekend.

And on Tuesday, we had visitors! Kristin and Lily came down to visit us! I had a whole bunch of clothes for Lily that Jenna had outgrown, and some snowsuits and a Halloween costume as well. Can never figure out why I hang onto the girl stuff for so long, not like I have more than one! But at least they have gone to someone who can use them!!! Lily and Xander didn't play as well together as they normally do, but Xander is kinda havin' an off week right now. He has banged his head on the coffee table, on Jenna's dresser, just been cranky and outta sorts. And Quinten, wow, the boy is teethin' something fierce!! His first set of molars!! FUN!!!!!! hehee

Anyways, the brats are done their lunch, so I should scoot and wash Quin up and try to get him down for his nap. Have a good long weekend everyone!!!!!!

All my birdies are back home in the nest

Man, it is good to have everyone home again, after a very long summer!!! Cody and Jenna had a blast though, on their holidays. They got to do lots of fun stuff, see lots of people that they wanted to see, and just relax and be with family.

Mind you, the phone hasn't stopped ringing for Cody since he got home, and we've barely seen him, but that's the life of a tween, that's for sure. His girlfriend Britney, and his best friends Kevin, Colby, and Koby have all been wanting to spend time with him, poor boy is torn between who to hang out with. And he's also been putting in some time babysitting, both for us and for our old neighbours. He's there today for nearly 10 hours, and then again tomorrow and Friday too. Busy boy, but he ain't complaining about the cash increase (especially after just buying another new game for his PSP!!!).

And Jenna has been out playing with her friends, either at the playground across the street, or at her friend Katie's house, three doors down.

And now, it's only two more weeks until school starts!!! We are pretty much all set, have all their supplies (bought them in June, through the PAC at school, so we are good to go with those!), just have to get a few things {backpacks, lunchbags, new shoes, jacket for Cody, maybe one or two outfits}, will probably do that on the long weekend. Have decided I'm not going all out on outfits for them, since September is pretty warm, usually, around here. They will wear the same stuff they've been wearing all summer! And this way, I can wait and buy their clothes after the back to school stuff is over, and things start getting marked down. heheee

Been scrapping lots, with my new CT assignments. I've done two LOs each for Jan and Eva.
Unfortunately, blogger won't let me load any photos, so you will, once again, have to go to my galleries to the right to see them. If you check out the DST gallery, my stuff for Digirocks is the only stuff I currently have up {Digirocks is Jan and Eva}..

Anyways, kinda chilly today, waiting for mail to get here so I can go into Fernie to deposit my cheque that should be in the mail. lol

homecoming and news!

My monsters will be home tomorrow!!! Man, I have been missing Jenna like crazy, and Cody too, and I am sooooo excited that they are coming home!! Jenna has been gone since July 1st, and Cody has been gone for one month. Des' Dad is bringing them home tomorrow, poor things have to drive 9 hours to get here, gonna be wound up from the drive when they arrive. lol Xander and Quinten have been missing them like crazy, chances are, neither will be able to leave their sight for a while without a freakout or two.

And I have some exciting news, but I'm gonna wait til later to announce it! hehehee It's scrapping related though. Just not sure if I can "officially" announce it yet, so be patient.

Last night we had a wicked thunderstorm, which caused a few lightening fires in the mountains. Thankfully, the torential (sp?) rain came right after, and put them out. I actually called in one fire that I spotted on the mountain, thank goodness Des was with me and could communicate what he was seeing, since he used to work as a forest fire fighter, but by the time our forest district called back, the rain had taken care of it. Needless to say, I didn't sleep well last night, with two little boys in bed with me!! And this morning we had an even more spectacular thunderstorm. Not sure if anything started today, there have been quite a few helicopters flying about. Amazing ... blogger cooperates!!!! These are the mountains behind my house, taken this morning {during and after the storm}, such beautiful scenery!! Even more amazing?!?! These photos were taken only about 30 minutes or so apart! I was trying to get some shots of the wicked lightening, and if you look closely at the first one, you can actually see a bolt of lightening, right above the tallest tree!!!!!!!!

Anyone as much of a reality TV junkie as me?! I was pleased with the outcome of both Last Comic Standing (Go Josh!!!) and Hell's Kitchen (I was rooting for Heather from day one!). Patiently waiting to see the outcome of Treasure Hunters next week (am I the only one who wants the Geniuses to win?!). And Big Brother ... sad that Kaysar is gone, slowly loosing hope for Janelle though. The two of them were my faves, but I don't know anymore. Lastly, ROCK STAR Supernova!!! I am diggin' Dilana soooo much, right from the start! Lukas has improved, and he's Canadian, so he's on the top of my list too. *g* What is up with Zayra though?!?! Ugh, I just can't stand her!
Can't wait for the fall season to start, new shows, returning shows .... Ok, I have an addiction to TV.

Scrapping ... I've done a few more layouts this week. But ... since I've already been greedy posting some pics, and really don't want to tick off the blogger gods, please, go check out my galleries way up there on the right -------------> and leave me some lovin' if you want!

Whew, what a LONG weekend!!!

we had fun, but man, am I happy to be home again! lol

We left here Friday morning at 4am, and we got to Russell {Manitoba} about 3:30pm. Yes, it took us approx. 11 hours driving!!! Thank goodness, my children love travelling and are super in the vehicle. Quinten only got really cranky about the last 30 minutes or so, which is pretty darn good!

Friday, we just kinda hung around the hotel, went swimming, had dinner, and Des went to visit a friend while the boys and I just kinda relaxed. Saturday, we went down to St. Lazare to visit Des' aunts, uncles and cousins. It was fun! Then, we headed up to the Lake of the Prairies {Asessippi Park area} to visit more of his cousins, at their cabin. The boys had so much fun, there was a little guy Quin's age there, as well as a whole slew of older kids. That's where we are aiming to go next summer with all the kids ... swimming, boating, camping ... all fun!! While we were there, we got to meet former NHLer Pat Falloon, such a weird thing for us {yeah, we are Canadian, and we really aren't into hockey - go figure!! lol}. Too bad we didn't think to snag his autograph for Cody, aka Hockey Nut.

Sunday, we took the boys swimming again in the pool, had breakfast with Des' best friend {Mark, the best man at our wedding}, then we headed down to Frobisher {Saskatchewan} to visit with more friends. We used to live about 20 minutes from there {when Xander was a baby}, and I drove over to see the house we used to live in {it was built in 1897, and was up for sale while we were renting it, it sold shortly after we moved}, and stopped to see our friend's daughter at work {she used to babysit our kids for us, and come with us on road trips to boot!!!}. After dinner with Rob & Mona, we visited a while longer, then headed on our way home. We only made it to Weyburn before Des and I decided to stop for the night, we were both just too tired to drive any further. So we did the rest of the trip on Monday. INSANE!!! Everyone else was on the roads! And it was the hottest day of the entire weekend!!! Ugh! We made it home around 6pm, which really sucked, cause Des had to work that night at 11 {although he ended up calling in, he was just too tired}.

Next year, we are definitely going back that way. We are just torn between renting a cabin for a week {luxury!!!} or renting a tent trailer for two weeks {about half the cost of the cabin, for twice the time!} and just exploring our way to Winnipeg {Manitoba} and back home again. We'll have to see what happens.

Anyways, I am feeling blah today, and want to do some scrapping, so I'm outta here!

Leaving on VACATION!!!

yeah, I am sooooo excited, I love going back east to see family and friends. Really wish we had more time to visit, but we will have to make due with the time we have. Next year though, we are planning on going out for an entire week, that way we can see everyone we want to!!!

Only thing I'm NOT excited about?!?! Getting up at 4/5 AM to hit the road!!!! Des is waking us up when he comes in from work (he is probably getting off a little earlier than usual), then he is driving to Medicine Hat, and I get to take the wheel from "the Hat" to Regina or Fort Qu Appelle, depends on how I feel. This will only be my third "road trip" with me driving. How sad is that! heheee I mean, I can handle the two hour drive to Lethbridge, and then home again, but this is only the third distance trip for me (I drove home from Kamloops at Easter, with a night pit stop at my Dad's in the West Kootenays, total driving time, 11 hours between the two days).

We are staying at the Russell Inn, which is a really nice place to stay. We've stayed there a few times before, Des has friends that work in the restaurant. And the kids and I love the pool, so relaxing!!!

Off to finish laundry, dishes, and then start packing!! We'll be home sometime Monday, so don't expect to hear from me til at least Tuesday!!!!!! Have a good weekend everyone!!!!!
